Ahmet Canli, Commercial Attache of the Consulate General of Turkey in New York, has more than 13 years of experience in public service. He graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences, Ankara University, with a degree in International Affairs in 1995, and completed his MS education at the Florida State University with a major of International Affairs in 2005. Mr. Canli started his career in the Turkish Prime Minister’s Office, Undersecretariat for Foreign Trade in 1996 as an assistant Foreign Trade Expert at the General Directorate of European Union, which determines and carries out the foreign trade policies of Turkey with the member states of the European Union. In 1998, he started to work at the General Directorate of Exportation, and was responsible for the implementation of the export subsidies, granting Inward Processing Authorization Certificates to the exporters. Mr. Canli attended numerous Turkish-EU Free Trade Agreement Negotiations since 1997 to date, and worked in the preparation of the Special Expertise Commission Report of Plant Production of 9th National Development Plan in 2006. He was involved in the promotional activities of Hazelnut Promotion Group in Turkey and abroad since 2005. He also dealt with problems of agricultural products’ exportation to other countries, and removing obstacles and seeking ways to increase the exports of agricultural products of Turkey.
